I've just had an idea for a front page module which could be the default page instead of the news page. Basically it would just pull all the latest goings on from the database so people are greeted with new and interesting things when they first arrive on the site. So the latest news posts, latest forum topics, latest games (with screenshots), articles, and whatever. I think it'd also give a good first impression to new visitors - you know, showing how fantastically awesome and exciting the site is. It shouldn't be too hard to do, either - it'd just query the existing modules. This can be done, right Ferret? :/ ____________ |

Sure, there's an in-built function for checking if a module is installed, the argument is the short-name. So you just check if news exists and stuff and generate what's needed. The default front page can be changed in the admin area you know in the main config settings page. So it's just a case of making the page and changing that setting. Might be a good idea, you could have things that other sites have like "Newsest member is such and such" that have no current place on the site. ____________ laffo |
