How about when a user registers they have to read the rules of the site first - so we can force them to comply with our dictatorship. I mean house rules.

Personally I always skip the reading of any kind of forum agreement because they are all the same and never contain anything interesting. And a dictatorship officially doesn't need it's inhabitants to agree. But on the other hand if you keep the text very short and clear, it might be read. An agreement will probably single out the lowest IQ's of society who won't pass the signup(just as the activation e-mail). And even without an agreement, we can force them to the houserules anyway, can't we? ____________ Personal website: http://www.loijson.com |

Well you know, they could just be pretty simple rules - like the equal dev tools thing - not like a 10 page legal contract with small print saying we're allowed to harvest their organs to pay for bandwidth or anything. Did anyone ever register on pixelation? They had like a whole freaking document to read and then a quiz afterwards (seriously) just to be able to post. Anyway, yeah. We could do that thing where the submit button isnt where you think it is but it tells you in the middle of the thing you're supposed to read. I love that. ____________ |

Yeah I remember that, but then the community was great, very few idiots spammed it. You got the inevitable odd one or two but other than that, all good. Still, a quiz is a little over the top. No that's retarded. No one reads rules when they sign up, we're a website, not a freaking court room. Didn't we used to have a rules page? Most rules are common sense anyway. [Edited on September 2, 2005 by Fiona] ____________ laffo |

Ok well even if people don't read them, can we not even have a teeny tiny page when you register summing up the basics in about 3 lines? Just so that people can't say "nobody told me xyz when I registered" Just have some editable text that gets displayed on the new user form and I'll be a happy bunny... pleeeease ____________ |

I always thought the pixelation people were genisus to use that quiz registration. I don't think it'd work here, but we should keep it in mind in case things get ugly. About the rules: yeah, I think a (very) short summarization of the general conduct rules on the registration page would be ok. ____________ boredome is the bitter fruit of too much routine |
