As I see it, if I want a device to play music on I want a device to play music on. Any gaming or otherwise trendy or hip functionality can be left out please. The screen and the keys aren't made for it anyway. What I want is a good player, and if I can get a Creative one cheaper then I'm taking it anyday. Maybe I'll be less cool though.

And iTunes, as long as you can just throw on your MP3's it's no real problem, but no points there for Apple, at the least.

That I can accept, but DM's mindless, biased and uneducated bashing is just insanity.

Plus the whole story about his friend doesn't sit right with me at all. He had to buy a cable to connect to his PC? So hold on, how did he manage to transfer music to it in the first place?

Does iTunes not lock down your computer so only one iPod can be used? Is it not alos a pain to go from computer to computer. some reasons why itunes sucks

Of course if you are happy with basic operations then of course you will be satisfied with your iPod and iTunes. The same way you are happy with Microsoft's Windows products.

You shuold all buy Creative Muvos they act as usb keys so you can use them on any computer without additional hardware (as long as it's not win98).

Man, you can still use iPods as USB keys, I back stuff up onto my iPod.
Ripping and encoding with iTunes is a bad idea too, it's just not suited for the job. MusicMatch Jukebox is way better for that, I've been swearing by it for years.

Also, I'm pretty sure iTunes does not lock your computer into one iPod, that would be a very, very silly thing to do on Apple's part. It's not that much of a pain to go from computer to computer, just turn off the auto updating in iTunes and add/remove stuff manually and it's fine.

I like Apple. I like iTunes. I don't have an ipod because I'm poor, and I just really don't need one.

But yeah....you know....it's still awesome and stuff.

You can not use iPods as USB keys unless they have usb connection built in now, do they? Do they now? Hmmm?

Something I find annoying is that you must install iTunes if you want to install Quicktime, I mean, I don't need iTunes to play *.mov files... why am I ordered to install it then?

He already had a cable. I'm just saying, if you lose it, you're gonna have to spend a LOT on a new one. I'm not willing to fork out double figures for accessories for my mp3 (as it is, I'm sticking with my CD player, anyway).

Anyway, I like Nesquik most. That rabbit is hot hot hot.

Step 1. Get a power generator
Step 2. Get a big rucksack
Step 3. Put the generator and your pc on/in the rucksack
Step 4. Play music.

Optionally you could strap your keyboard on your arm to access the music.

i had to stop taking my discman around with me, so i broke the habit of a limetime and got an iPod. i am very pleased to be honest.

i mean the headphones are really good, and the eq settings are not bad. as long as you are putting full quality mp3s on it's pretty much alright. and it's tiny (a nanopod). it's louder than my previous discmans.

all this is great but it crashed today, like fixed display? and i can't see what i am doing until the battery runs out.

life sucks

How about storing MP3's in unused space in your brain? Some people here will have loads of free space then. :p
