Yes, indeed, that is a Logitech G15 keyboard, and now Fenix can control it too!
For those unfamiliar with the keyboard, please visit this site: http://www.everythingusb.com/l … g_keyboard.html.

Here is a package, containing a test program with commented source, the DLL, documentation and even a virtual LCDscreen:

Version 1.02

It's quite done now, added a rather extended documentation.

I made a game with it, LCD Pong:

The game is downloadable here, source included:

If you don't have a Logitech G15, it's playable too since F1 switches between Fenix displaying it on/off, so you can think how this would be on your G15 when you get yours. ;) It's more fun on the keyboard, though.

I seriously doubt it. The uses are very limited... And it's not that innovative.

OLED keyboards are awesome, but very expensive. This keyboard is awesome but not so expensive. And I just *love* the blue backlight. But there will be more keyboards with LCD screens, there were already I believe, not sure.

That Optimus keyboard is bloody impressive. But useful? I'm not sure. I mean, surely once you've learned the keyboard shortcuts for a program you don't need to look down at the keys any more. I doubt you'd want to be looking down at the keyboard to find the crouch button in quake, for example.

I still want one though.

Are you kiddin? Just different keyboard layouts is enough, and having icons for games is great, there are special pads you can get where you put in these cards and setup shortcuts for game keys, there's a lot of call for it.
I would find it VERY useful. And those shortcuts for programs with the little icons is pretty awesome too.

I thought you did HCI? This is like the pinaccle of it.

No, good HCI would be designing software which was so intuitive you didn't need to take your eyes of the screen to use it.

What ribbon thing?

On the learning shortcuts for a game, some games you do need to have many reminders, flight sims anyone? There's a reason they come with these big key charts that you always need to refer to.

And if you go away from a game for a couple months, it's much easier and more intuitive to learn it by looking at the keyboard now and again instead of constantly going into the settings or picking up that chart for the bazillionth time.

Well, what frimkron is saying is that you should intuitively be able to discover/figure out the commands and not need a chart to remind you. I think what you say is also valid since we can't have everything displayed to the user.

Microsoft are replacing the traditional menu system in the next version of MS Office with a thing they are calling a ribbon, it is like a context sensitive menu, Jakob thinks it is great.

That Optimus keyboard looks great, I agree with Ferret that it would be verry handy. The only downsides I see to it, is that it's not a standard yet and it's verry expensive (extimated over $300 as I read somewhere).

The laser keyboard seems less handy to me, the layout looks RSI and I'm worried if it works well on every surface. It's a bit cheaper, but it seems only a show off to me...

And that update of the GUI in Microsoft seems like something they needed to do. I've heared the complaint several times that Office has great functionality but that people didn't know where to find it. From the images on the Microsoft website it seems more fool compatible (;)) to me.

Oh and good job on the keyboard dll there, Sandman. I don't have one, but it looks like you did well there ;) (be it only for yourself at the time being :D).
