Hi guys, I asked a friend of mine with some great musical talent to do the Dnb/Trance style music i wanted for my game, and he wanted to know if its alright for him to use samples from other musicians? They would never be long samples, most of them would be so cut up you would hardly recognize who made it.. Lots of DJs use mixing to make completely original tracks, and it takes lots of skill to do so, so i think it should be legal. Verdict?

Quote: most of them would be so cut up you would hardly recognize who made it.. Lots of DJs use mixing to make completely original tracks This makes me think these samples you are talking about are actual parts taken from other songs... if this is the case, then well, it's simply copyright infringement (and obviously not made from scratch) and it's not allowed. If the guy is so good, surely he can make something from scratch? ____________ Personal website: http://www.loijson.com |

well he says that he can, but hes recently gotten very fond of the mixing style since you can do all kinds of crazy stuff. I guess he'll just have to do it old fashioned style
