Hello! The years have gone by quickly, and everyone might be using more modern computer equipment than before. What is your current computer setup for programming or gaming?

My own programming and gaming computer:

AMD A10 CPU (10 cores) @ 3.5 Ghz. 8 GB Ram. Geforce 1050 GTX graphics card. HD Samsung screen (1920 x 1080). Creative A60 2.0 speakers. 1 TB HD. 4TB backup HD. MS Naturel keyboard. Logitech wired laser mouse.

What is your current computer hardware?

I just a couple of months ago retired my acer m5 laptop from 2012(!!) and now have a shiny new Lenovo Thinkbook 15-IML, with intel i5 and 8GB RAM
surprisingly the acer was still sufficient for most purposes, it only had some power issues which meant it was no longer portable. Having a full HD screen is probably good for modern dev stuff too.
I have a PS4 for gaming although I seem to use it rarely :o

My dev/gaming rig exists as thus:

GeForce 1060GTX 3GB (I wish I'd purchased the 6GB)
Intel Core i5-7600 CPU 3.50GHz
16GB RAM
Logitech cheapass wireless keyboard and mouse
SONY 4:3 on the side for codings
AOC AGON 25" QHD up to 165Hz (woooo!)

and as Rincewind brought up audio gear I can blow you all away with my PIONEER SA-410 and Mordaunt Short Carnival II speakers (vintage, ahhhh.)

It's all black and the keyboard and mouse match - personally I can't stand my gear being out-of-style with itself. No!

by the way DTM that's fairly decent, 8 years out of a laptop.

Ever noticed if you give a laptop to a girl it dies after 2 years for apparently no reason and they whine for "a boy" to fix it... anyway back to the setups!

DTM: Laptops were early to incorporate HD screens! I got HD resolution on my older laptops first, after that even my mobile phone, and now my desktop. For the desktop before I was a CRT moniter fan.

Mezzmer: My stuff is also mostly black (even the case, however has a partially white front side). Black is fine for desktops it seems. For laptops, silver would seem better.

GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 16GB
Intel Core i5-7600 CPU 3.50GHz
16GB DDR4 RAM
Corsair Watercooling for processor (might create my own loop for my RTX later)
BENQ 4K screen. Seriously, for programming 1 screen in 4K is much easier than having 2 screens imo. For certain GUIs you actually can have side bars at two sides and a bottom panel, top panel and still have room in the center :D
Ducky One 2 RGB keyboard ( Cherry MX Brown, to have a balance between gaming and typing programming, Cherry Red is too soft and Blue is amazing for programming but terrible for games)
Razer Trinity mouse

Wow man you got the new Geforce! In the past I had a "Ti" card too, it was better than newer cards. Is your BenQ moniter wide screen? I'm also experiencing good space for side bars with a 24" HD screen.

BenQ GW2480 23.8" Monitor

Yes it is widescreen, though I would prefer a non-widescreen for programming...

But it's hard to find these days..

At programming daycare we are getting new computers. They come with dual wide screen moniters, and an AMD Ryzen CPU. Well, the 2 screens barely fit on the desks, but people appreciatate them nontheless. It's a bit useless as 1 wide screen moniter is wide enough for me. And I'm not allowed to run IRC on the second moniter. :O
