games are terrible -9616558 posts |
Okay there's bene some long talks between the higher echelons of Boolean Soup, and I've managed to be reeled back in to it. One of the main things we were talking about is the pages for content, more specifically the language documentation. In the end we decided on doing a simple wiki system for the whole thing. Or rather me doing a simple wiki system. Anyway, I could get doing that now, but I can't help thinking there's more important things. Only I've no frikking idea what is more important. So I decided to arrange my (massive) to-do list by importance. But I've no idea what needs to done. So, I'm gonna give you people a filtered down to-do list, and you're gonna tell me what's more important to you, then it'll get arranged and stuff will be implimented in order. It's a lot better than me asking Woody to do eeny-meeny-miney-mo. <_< Code: * Syntax highlighting on code tags * Integrated wiki * Redo articles page * DoB not age in profiles * Swear censoring option in profile (and maybe an admin setting to set default) * User timezone feature in profile * "watched" threads feature * Search feature on forum * forum display options - sigs, avatars, post counts, icons, etc * links to the following on user profiles: forum posts by this user, games submitted by this user, articles submitted by this user, worklogs by this user, etc * PMs should be a site-wide thing * Login form actually in login box on navbar * birthday calendar * average posts per day on profiles * next / previous buttons on forum threads * bbcode explaination / tag list page * disable smileys checkbox * user tag e.g. [user]Frimkron[/user] which links to profile or whatever * infinite worklog categorys and option to view all worklog posts by user * who's online could be more of a site-wide thing So yeah there's a lot there. On the articles being re-done, we think that it should have an unlimited tree of categories, like the links page. I agree with this. I'm sure most of you would too. Also, I think that a lot more could be added to articles, uploading files (code, examples etc)? And uploading images to articles? Both of which I personally think are important. What does everyone else think about it? If you notice I removed all bugs from my to-do list, since I'm gonna split those from my main list. If you have anything else you'ld like to see, (not bugs) then do tell. Oh and how important you think it is of course. ____________ laffo |

Quoting Ferret: Okay there's bene some long talks between the higher echelons of Boolean Soup, and I've managed to be reeled back in to it. And there was much rejoicing. Here's what I think is immediately necessary: Code: * Integrated wiki * Search feature on forum * links to the following on user profiles: forum posts by this user, games submitted by this user, articles submitted by this user, worklogs by this user, etc * next / previous buttons on forum threads * infinite worklog categorys and option to view all worklog posts by user Quoting Ferret: Also, I think that a lot more could be added to articles, uploading files (code, examples etc)? And uploading images to articles? Both of which I personally think are important. What does everyone else think about it? Yeah, those would be very cool. Screenshots are a must. Good to have you back. ____________ boredome is the bitter fruit of too much routine |

I've tried to order it a little in what I think is more imporant and what I think is less important (I've left out some that I think that is even less important): Code: * Search feature on forum * bbcode explaination / tag list page * User timezone feature in profile * birthday calendar / DoB not age in profiles * Swear censoring option in profile (and maybe an admin setting to set default) * forum display options - sigs, avatars, post counts, icons, etc * links to the following on user profiles: forum posts by this user, games submitted by this user, articles submitted by this user, worklogs by this user, etc * Integrated wiki * "watched" threads feature * Syntax highlighting on code tags * Login form actually in login box on navbar * who's online could be more of a site-wide thing - Since the search feature is yet to be done, I prefer it to be side-wide... - Birthday callendar: I hope this includes an upcomming and recent birthdays section on the forum main page? - Is the articles page still needed if there's an intergrated wiki? - Who's online can be side-wide, but I've seen on other forums that they can browse anonymously accept for admin, perhaps this could be a profile option... Quoting Important: * Redo articles page * Integrated wiki * Search feature on forum We need tutorials and command docs! And the search feature is important too. Quoting Smaller, but also important, things: * links to the following on user profiles: forum posts by this user, games submitted by this user, articles submitted by this user, worklogs by this user, etc * User timezone feature in profile * DoB not age in profiles * birthday calendar * average posts per day on profiles These things can be done quicker though they're as well kind of important. To be honest I don't really care much about the rest. Aside from this list, I think fixing bugs is quite important too before they'll swallow us. Edit: We had a topic before about articles and wiki. I was about to post my priority list, but its the same as Rincewind's. I agree that the most annoying and most dangerous bugs should be fixed first, then the articles page completed followed by the wiki and forum search.
