Ok I've been putting some practice in to try and make better music than what was in PowerOUT. I think I've succeeded. www.stuckieworld.net/files/audio/Space%20Pirates%20-%20Title.mp3 The title tune to my next game, Space Pirates Comments? ____________ |

yea, I always use Soundtracker on Linux. Open Modplug Tracker on Windows is very good too, and supports VSTs and stuff. Oh and this is the ingame music.. a bit more darker and heavier, http://www.stuckieworld.net/fi … 0-%20Ingame.mp3 ____________ |

Didn't Woody use Modplug tracker to make his final fight song for turbulence? I think I tried it once, but forgot about it afterwards. I think I should look into it again sometime. Hm, Stuckie, personally I like your title song more, it has a clearer tune and is more of a whole. The ingame music has a standard tune that's nice too, but there's some weird random tingle part in it too that does not fit the rest, first emerging at 0:40. I agree with Rincewind - I think that lead voice needs a lot less reverb on it. But other than that I think it kicks major derriere. I like Modplug, though I was first introduced to writing music with Cubase so I can't get used to the way the channels go downwards instead of sideways. Actually I did once find a tracker that uses a piano roll view like cubase and the like. It's called Soundclub... ____________ |

Heheh.. the reverb is mostly due to my rather crap recording of samples and stuff... and the fact that the lead keyboard sample is pretty long so they tend to mix with eachother. The XM files for these are.. well.. interesting, to say the least. The drum solo bit in the Ingame music was a bugger to do, so was the lead in the Title music -- most notes are played on their own channel till they end before another one is played... best example of this is the end of the Title track where I forgot to cut the lead and it lingers on a bit too much. Can't seem to find this "tingle" thing.. might be that you're hearing the hi-hat more, as a few times I've slowed the instruments down so you can hear the drums. It's also one of a few ingame music tracks.. that's for when you get in a fight, basically. The game is going to be a sortof Elite-clone.. but in a tighter area. Think Hardwar, but in space rather than on a moon, and that's pretty close to it. As for Cubase, I can't stand the damn thing... it's rather processor hungry, and to the opposite of Frimkron, I'm used to seeing a tracker since I've been using the things since the Spectrum days ____________ |

Ok so I was expressing myself a bit shitty, what I mean is that the block from 0:40 to 0:46 doesn't really fit there. ____________ Personal website: http://www.loijson.com |

I don't want to be picky as it's nice and all, but at 2:02 there seems to be an acord (is that the english word for it?) that seems wrong or unintentional (two notes to close to each other?)... Further like I said it's nice ____________ |

Can't find anything odd at 2:02 ... sure that's the right time? As for that block.. it appears again after the drum solo.. does it fit there? or should I just hack it out altogether? hehe I can change it all I like... I'm even thinking of using it for a different game completely.. like a Side-Scrolling shooter rather than an Elite-clone ____________ |

Quoting Stuckie: As for that block.. it appears again after the drum solo.. does it fit there? or should I just hack it out altogether? hehe Haha yes I noticed it's there too. But especially the transition to that block the first time isn't very smooth, the second time the block fits in better. ____________ Personal website: http://www.loijson.com |

Think I've fixed it... also added a bit more to the drums in places... make it a bit more fuller... Specifically, just after the drum solo, and when things start to calm down a bit.. as well as the end. Comments? http://www.stuckieworld.net/fi … %20Ingamev2.mp3 Amusingly, an older one I did (using only 4 channels) has the same sortof vibe as these two... http://www.stuckieworld.net/fi … undthetwist.mp3 Beware the 8-bit samples of doom Most people liked it though, so yay for me.. and seems most people are liking these two as well ____________ |

Road Rash? not heard or played that in a LONG time.. hehe.. Here's the next ingame music... oh yea, the musics are all meant to loop, so the endings are pretty naff http://www.stuckieworld.net/fi … -%20Ingame2.mp3 Bit shorter than the others but meh...
