Bug what?

In an effort to make the continued development more structured, we have created a bug tracker for the website in the form of Mantis.

http://www.booleansoup.com/mantis

How do I submit a bug?

Go to the URL above and make a new account on the bug tracker, it's not connected to the website, sorry about that, but we probably shouldn't be focussing on writing bug tracking software when there are bugs of our own to fix.

After you've registered and are logged in use the "Report Issue" link at the top to create a bug report or suggest a new feature.

Please scan the current open reports incase it's already been reported.

Where did the old forum go?

It has been archived and locked to help facilitate "a fresh start".
It's still there for all the discussion that went on and because all the current known bugs are there too.

Feel free to submit all the bugs that still apply from the old site bugs/ideas forum (In fact, please do, it would help.)

What's this forum for?

If you think a feature is initally best discussed in the open before filing an official report for it, then do it here.
This forum is also for discussing the general direction for the development of the site and to decide how we work together without breaking things.

Will normal users be able to report bugs as well?

Edit: After registration I got this error:

SYSTEM WARNING: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons

I was wondering whether to put bugs that could be exploited badly on the bug tracker. Let's say there's a bug that allows you to wipe out the database - put it on the bug tracker anyway?

Quoting Htbaa:

Everyone should be able to sign up and report bugs.

Fiona registered for me and mentioned it too, but I haven't seen it on the bug tracker myself yet. If anyone knows what this means, and it is a serious problem, I could mail the hosting provider about it.

It's potentially serious, but probably not. But it's still off-putting and hilariously bad for a "bug tracker".

As for life breaking exploits, when you submit a bug report you can set it as private so only yourself and admins can see it. So we should do that for those.

I'm posting about the SQL injection point and file upload trick now. I'm guessing its ok to put them as public, as they are already on the forums (plus mysql isn't easy to injection into). Is this right?

Congratulationisms on getting thing moving btw! Wish I'd the last post on the archived forum though :(

Yeah please go ahead OScoder.

Does Mantis have BBcode or HTML or something to properly style bug reports? And I can't seem to upload multiple files when reporting a new bug.

Edit: All bugs from the bug thread have been posted in Mantis, except for OScoder's latest found bugs because he mentioned he was going to add them himself. The bug thread is also riddled with suggestions which I didn't touch. I also actually found some new bugs.

Not sure off hand, why, what is it you need to do?

I don't think you can upload any files, I forgot to designate a directory for file uploads to go in yet, whoops.

Fun.

[edit]

Remember that features go into the tracker too.

Nothing special, just to properly style bug reports. It is handy to use markup to highlight things.

I managed to upload a single file at least.

Rincewind that's dangerous, doing things I say you can't. :O

It might be related to ini_set() being turned off.

Fyi: I got this when posting a note somewhere in the bug tracker:

Quote:
APPLICATION ERROR #18

Page redirection error, ensure that there are no spaces outside the PHP block (<?php ?>) in config_inc.php or custom_*.php files.

Please use the "Back" button in your web browser to return to the previous page. There you can correct whatever problems were identified in this error or select another action. You can also click an option from the menu bar to go directly to a new section.

The note was posted though.

The only warnings I've ever gotten from it are the INI_SET warnings, which have been there since it was installed, and as far as I know, we can't change.

Go ahead and hack the Mantis source if you like, or convince out host to enable ini_set for us, I have better things to do than removing such a minor annoyance.

Or should I pm one of you?

Great idea but this mantis thing is not gonna be used a lot! Why do you have to use a different logon? Sigh... btw, sorry for waiting a week before replying to this.
