Hm. Wow. As a kid I was very interested in dinosaurs, and I never noticed the above named creatures are wrongly placed in the category dinosaurs. In fact all the dinosaur magazines I still have here also include them in the definition. But it seems you're right(it's on wikipedia), good work noticing.

Yes sure, you are allowed to include other prehistoric creatures that lived during the era the dinosaurs lived. In fact you can include modern creatures and what all as you like, as long as it's obvious from your game that the main theme is dinosaurs.

If a lizardesque creature has parallel legs, its a dinosaur, otherwise, its just some huge reptile...

Aaaw...no free music? Man, i have absolutely NO IDEA, of how to make music...i dont think Jesus can properly kick some ass and swing his giant wooden cross without some raging electric guitars bgm U_U

Ok another question: What are the judges average computer specifications? I ask because ive decided to use DarkBasic and i want to take full advantage of its shader capabilities (refraction, parallax mapping, etc) and it would be kind of a waste if everyone is running a p3 voodoo FX machine.

Can't say anything about the other judges as they are not known yet, but my personal specs are: Pentium M 740, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, Ati Radeon X700 128 MB graphics card, Windows XP.

If someone wants my help for music I will be glad to create some loops for everyone... But I'm not sure it's allowed because I'm joining the compo myself.

here is an (old) example of an old battle theme I made (FLstudio4):

http://users.skynet.be/fa04651 … /rpg/battle.mp3

Some might still know it from div-arena. :p

I won't be using it so be free to include it in your RPGs =P
NOT FOR THE COMPETITION! ITS AGAINST THE RULES SINCE I AM AN ENTRANT MYSELF

Quoting Casper:

Quoting the internet:
The Mobility Radeon X700 supports SMARTSHADER HD which includes Shader Model 2.0, specifically Pixel Shader 2.0b and Vertex Shader 2.0 in DirectX9.0c.

Does Dark Basic harness Shader Model 3? Well anyway don't worry about it, if it's really necessary I'll just take your game to a newer pc on university or somewhere else.

And good news for those who want to use Poser/DIV 2 character generator: we've decided on allowing these anyway. People do have to make all content themselves, where "making" means creating/generating. Pre-made materials are not allowed.

@Dennis: every entrant/team needs to create the music themselves, so you can't make the music for others.

Silly question - how do we show images within our worklogs?

I can show images in posts using [.img][./img] tags (without the "."s), but this method doesn't work within worklogs - I can do direct links to my images, but it's not the same as showing it within the post.

Also, why are worklogs not shown in an order that they were last updated? I added a comment to mine and it still doesn't appear in the last 15 worklogs. Surely it would be better to show the worklogs in order of activity?

I just took a look how TheMI3 managed to do it, and he seems to be using , in capitals.

They are shown in the order they were last updated. Comments are no worklog updates - you need to create a new worklog entry (hit the new post button). I didn't program it, but I really like the order as it is now, chronologically on last worklog entry. What sense does it make that an older worklog would push other newer worklogs away when it gets a comment? Comments aren't meant to put your updates in!

I tried the "IMG" tags without success. I'll try again. Seems strange that "img" works in posts though, but not in worklog entries. :/

I disagree - I think comments in worklogs are important.

Creating a new worklog entry updates the worklog? I thought it literally created a new worklog. No point in having 30 worklogs for one game. Hmmm...

This is not explained anywhere on this forum, so it's not exactly obvious.

Cheers anyway.

[EDIT] I've just tried IMG /IMG (with [] obviously) without success.

[EDIT] It looks as though you can do it if it's the first post of a new worklog, but it can't be done in a comment. That's handy to know.

On the worklog new post screen there's a box that disables BB Code. Have you all just gone and ticked that?

I was attempting to post an image in a comment (which doesn't work) - not on the "New Worklog" first post (which does). That's what the problem was.

It's sorted now. :)

They are important, especially to the creator of the worklog who has no way to see if someone has commented on their musings bar looking at every single worklog. How hard would it be to make one single page which just showed the latest comments?

By the way rockford, if you use [ img=20x20 ] you can specify the width and height and (more usefully) [ img=big ] will display a thumbnailed image.

a question for you,

using a photo (that you have just taken) as a backdrop in an entry?

(i know that the camera took the image, but you first had to see and then visualise it in your game before you can try to capture it)

But God (if you believe in the Almighty)created the image in the first place - can God be part of a team ;) :P
