WELL GEE ZOMG You could have used only a couple of letter g's and maybe the LALA indicated uncare or swindle. Also I think you first should explain in a paragraph how you are doing yourself.

Look how the little monsters bite when you poke them.

Thanks for that indication, Rince. :)

I need an idea for something to make.

Preferably a subscription service which solves a problem in a lucrative niche that can make me $$$ or perhaps even $$$$.

This is how I am doing. LALALA.

I just wanna retire already I do not enjoy working ;_;

2D games seem to be a lucrative niche lately.

are you joking?

I think games are about the most crowded niche anyway. To make a good one becomes actual tedious hard work.

I am not joking, no. It is a widely known fact. Many people like easy, no-brainer 2D games. There are many advantages for the developers: shorter development, less effort, more money.

So yes, 2D games (especially on mobile devices) are a crowded niche.

A practically dead niche would be original board games like Heroquest.

YOU MAKE ME SAD :(

if you could invent a averagely complex game that was 2d such as a real CLASSIC

it doesn't have to be heroquest so why mention that is dead?

actually a game similar to heroquest with cool minigames would be AWESOME for mobile phones.

Maybe that would be fun for you, but most people (your average Joe) already have enough brain tasks as it is. They want a game to relax, not to be using their brain on it extensively.

So, that is why no-brainer games are popular. Just like Yahtzee Zero Punctuation says: "I'd rather be retarded McSpacky pants and having fun with my ball than being bored out of my huge genius mind".

My brother is still into it, and I know some other people.

Nah, you have port it because it uses a game pad not a touch screen. Needless to say this often means a complete redesign of the input and lots of other things.

Imagine you have a ton of menus and buttons that respond to touch input, then you have to port it to a gamepad. Lol. I'm sure that's worth it.

It's a seriously good market for indie games.

I did think of trying to get on a Steam Greenlight and release something on that. Though I wanted a console platform, something with a controller always present.

But using Unity3d - ports to OUYA with a little knowhow (well I admit it was quite more lengthy than that) and once your game is about ready it slots into the store quite easily. You get a good cut of profit.

Kind of like X360 Marketplace but more exposure and more viable/successful as a platform.

I think those are good reasons.

Wait sorry this thread was about 2d games?

Or was it about what we are all doing... oh yes, I guess I've answered averagely well. For a Malarkey thread at least.

That's not hard: Make a character move left and - optionally - right and it gets greenlit in no time!
