I've only just found this thread as well (I dunno how seeing as I spam the forums often enough) and it's great having some of the old Div-Arena regulars pop in for a post asking for their old games. Even if Mike has just done a runner of sorts.

I think the torrent idea was great. Going through the list finding such classics as 'Assassin' and 'Gates Invaders' (yes all of mine, and all dire). If anyone got sued over it, it's probably because the relevant author is embarrassed to have their name on it still! I can't speak for everyone, but I think a lot of the games (including all of mine) were mostly a bit crap.

I like this post by Peader.

It's a cool idea, although I'm sure for many people it would just read as 'then = misguided young enthusiast, now = cynical misanthrope'.

what's better? No games or crap games? i notice that freeware has less success than a thing you paid for. If you paid for something you are more stimulated to use it.

PS: Sorry for everyone who believes in GNU.

Hi all,

don't know if anybody remembers me, I've just found this website all these years after DIV Arena died (along with my games programming enthusiasm!).

It's great to see some old names popping up, Ariel Yust I used to love your DIV games, Casper too :)

Did anybody ever re-host Div-Arena? I'd love to have a good old nostalgic read - plus I don't have ANY of my DIV games any more, it'd be great to see how pants they were :-P

I believe my username was the same as it is now - it's my go to name

EDIT - oh, and I literally lol'ed when someone mentioned deadmaster, I had forgotten about him, the first internet troll I ever had the pleasure of arguing with way back when!

Hello

Only the boredome thread survived:

http://www.booleansoup.com/ind … opic&id=171

I believe once it was archived somewhere on the internet. on a site called www.archive.org or something.

Deadmaster is now known as Fredblaster on this forum and has Lady Gaga as an avatar.

Many of us DIV users were teenagers back then and somehow evolved to adults, but not all of them mentally (including me)!

Aye, I was about 13 at the time I think... still am in my head!

Such a shame the site was lost, and that Mike appears to have disappeared from here now too...

So for laziness sake - Beenu the best alternative around? Or is Fenix still King?

Well, everyone uses his own stuff. Bennu, fenix or gemix ... it's all a matter of personal taste.

I'd recommend bennu, since it has a big wiki with all commands and tutorials.

Fenix has long been discontinued. Bennu rose out of the ashes, since. Gemix is a commercial project aimed at DIV compatibility. I don't know if there are other ports than Windows, but Bennu runs on many platforms, including your favourite console, windows, mac, bsd, linux, gp32x, caanoo, pandora, psp, etc.
