Network programming is still too intimidating for me to attempt. I'll be trying to add weapons drops instead. Then I'll rework (i.e implement) the messaging system.

You can still submit objects (up to 240x240 px) for the terrain, as well as weapon ideas.

Graphical Consistency

http://booleansoup.com/index.php?p=43&m=viewpost&id=125

(Click thumbnail to enlarge)Graphical Consistency

The Game (current V1.29) has had a graphical makeover. A strange bug regarding split trees has manifested.

AI now jumps around, usually not into the water, and uses the different weapons. It doesn't plan ahead, however, and doesn't often use barriers or terraballs.

Next thing to do is making the control more obvious. Currently some weapons are aim/click, while others are aim/click/hold/release. This could be confusing and proposed solutions are welcome.

Also more graphics need to be drawn, like an arrow for the active kitten and new mouse cursors. I'll get to that eventually.

Lastly, jumping should not change the wind direction.

A small step for a kitten...

http://booleansoup.com/index.php?p=43&m=viewpost&id=56

Jumping is in. It requires some skill to use properly. Kittens leave a trail when moving at high speed, as the cannonballs do.

(Click thumbnail to enlarge)A giant leap for kittenkind!

There's also a weapons menu now, but it's not solid enough for my taste. I'll double the icon size and make it acknowledge my mouse's hoverings.

(Click thumbnail to enlarge)I hope the wind is right...

The camera system now focuses on the active kitten, or a moving projectile. (Now to automagically determine the point of most interest at any time...)

Next to do is making the weapons menu more robust, adding more sounds and more kitten animation. Then it's time to improve the mousepointer.

The new kitten graphics were contributed by Ariel Yust. I like them.

The freezing bug was fixed.

A basic AI is in place. It's already better than ever (sorry DTM), but it will need more work before it's ready.

(Click thumbnail to enlarge)Evenly matched, much?

Adding a leaping move is next on my list.

Feel free to contribute kitten graphics/terrain objects/weapon plans/killer AI's or voicesets.

Patching up, Breaking down.

http://booleansoup.com/index.php?p=43&m=viewpost&id=52

Changes are being made:

- Weapons now work with aim and hold.
- The game field has been increased.
- Kittens 'stack'
- Water at the bottom of the field.
- AI was accidentally erased and broken, pending reimplementation.
- Selection method now more fair for smaller teams
- Network support very nonexistant indeed.
- Two sounds have been added.

Now I bet you trust me on my word, but here's a screenshot anyway:
(Click thumbnail to enlarge)

Next to be done:
- Weapon selection menu. Icons already drawn.
- Fixing AI somehow.
- Automatic camera movement to active kitten.
- Fix the freezing problem.
